CITB Grants for Plant Training

NPORS STANDARDS AND SUPPORT

As a CITB Recognised Organisation for accredited plant training, we have a number of categories eligible for CITB grants. The available categories are aligned with the CITB plant training standards for course duration and ratios – updated in July 2023 (Phase 1) and June 2025 (Phase 2) with a Phase 3 update expected in December 2025.

Upon completion of training and passing the associated test, successful plant operators will receive an NPORS CSCS card. The type of CSCS card issued, either the NPORS CSCS Trained Operator Card or NPORS CSCS Competent Operator Card, will depend if they hold the relevant (S)NVQ qualification.

How to Access CITB Grants

 FOR PLANT TRAINING

To qualify for CITB grants, plant operators must meet training and testing standards provided by a training provider who is both an NPORS Accredited Training Provider and a CITB Approved Training Organisation.

The training provider will apply for the CITB grant on your behalf – all they need is your organisation’s CITB registration number.

CITB Grant Rates

CITB GRANTS FOR PLANT TRAINING

Plant grant rates vary according to the experience of those undertaking the training and testing. CITB uses the terminology of “novice” and “experienced” to differentiate these.

• The “novice” plant grant rate is for those who have never experienced the type of machinery they are being trained in. It is a higher rate to help the industry’s skills shortage.

• The “experienced” plant grant rate is for those who have experience of the type of machinery, but require training before taking a test.
