YOUR ROUTE TO OBTAINING THE NPORS REGISTRATION

NPORS training and testing is carried out in line with published course objectives and learning outcomes which are derived from the National Occupational Standards.

An NPORS Accredited Training Provider (ATP) can assist in the pre-assessment of the operator to determine the level of training required. Upon successful completion of any NPORS training and testing the operator will obtain one of the below registrations.

The NPORS registration is designed to provide a smooth transition for operators to be on-site faster. The card can be turned around in 24 hours, allowing for quick access to job sites.

NPORS Traditional Card

Is designed for those who operate in industry sectors other than construction and therefore are not subject to the requirement to hold an operator card bearing the CSCS logo. The standards applied to this route and the methods of achievement are exactly the same as those applied to the NPORS/CSCS operator card route.

NPORS Traditional Operator Card

The NPORS traditional card does not bear the CSCS logo as non-construction industry sectors do not have the same requirements as the construction sector. End users have the option to select 3 or 5 year registrations for this card depending on any sector-specific or in-company requirements.

For those operating in the construction sector, the NPORS/CSCS card route should be followed.

NPORS CSCS Card

The NPORS CSCS card is a key certification for construction plant operators. It is issued in line with the requirements stipulated by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) and displays the CSCS logo. The card can be obtained by passing the relevant Plant category training and testing with a registered NPORS Instructor and providing the NPORS or CITB health, safety, and environmental touch screen test within two years prior to the application.

There are different types of NPORS CSCS cards:

NPORS Trained Operator Card

Issued to operators who do not currently hold the requisite (S)NVQ. This card is valid for two years, during which the operator must register for and achieve the requisite (S)NVQ.

NPORS RED CSCS Trained Operator Card

NPORS Competent Operator Card

Issued to operators who hold the requisite (S)NVQ. This card is valid for five years and includes a CPD record/operator logbook.
