Lift Truck Training & Testing

MORE THAN FORKLIFT TRAINING

With 1,300 people involved in lift truck related accidents in Britain each year,* NPORS training helps reduce risks in the workplace.

As one of the founding members of ABA – The Accrediting Bodies Association for Workplace Transport – we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of training for all lift truck and plant operators in the UK. Investing in an NPORS accredited lift truck training course will help drive a safety-first approach across your business.

It’s not enough to know how to operate a lift truck, but how to do so safely

The majority of all lift truck training in the UK is conducted through a training provider accredited by a member of the Accrediting Bodies Association for Workplace Transport (ABA). All members of the ABA help to keep materials handling equipment (MHE) operators safe. Members of the ABA give their time and expertise voluntarily, with no funding or financial assistance. All events and development cost for standards, are equally shared amongst the current members.
NPORS accredited lift truck training and testing covers several categories – including forklifts, reach trucks, side loaders and telescopic handlers.

Our Approach to Lift Truck Training and Testing

Through an accredited training provider network, we offer a wide range of lift truck training categories. From Industrial Counterbalance Lift Truck (more commonly known as ‘forklift’) through to Side Loader and Telescopic Handler, NPORS training and testing is recognised across several industries – including warehouses, ports, logistics, forestry and utilities.

All training and testing is mapped to standards outlined in Approved Code of Practice for Rider-Operated Lift Trucks – known as L117. In an NPORS course, theory and practical assessments cover items such as:

  • Safe and efficient operation of a lift truck
  • Understanding associated risks – collisions, falls, tip overs, struck-bys
  • Securing loads
  • Stacking and destacking
  • Lift truck stability

Upon successful completion of training and achieving all three elements of the category test, the operator will receive an NPORS Operator Card, an accredited competency card.
