Reduce risk of injury involving plant and machinery

There is no excuse for having an untrained team member operate machinery. According to the HSE, despite accounting for only 1% of the working population, agriculture accounts for 20% of all deaths in the workplace. The HSE reports that the most common causes of fatality include being struck by moving vehicles and contact with machinery.

The personal costs of injury resulting from plant and machinery related accident can be devastating. Achieving and maintaining good standards of health and safety in the operation of plant and machinery should be paramount. At NPORS we can help put you in the driving seat when it comes to plant and machinery operation and maintenance.

Through first class training provision with an NPORS accredited training provider, you can evidence training that complies with legislation – think The Health & Safety at Work Act, The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations.

Agricultural Plant and Machinery Certification

Upon successful completion of the training, operators will gain the NPORS Operator Card. Depending on the training, the card will be valid for 3 or 5 years.

If you rely on contractors to help with labour at peak times, then it is your responsibility to check that they can competently operate plant and machinery on your site. Checking that they have a valid NPORS Operator Card is a good starting point.
