NPORS CSCS Trained Operator Card

The CSCS Operator Cards are in line with the Government Strategy for Construction for a single logo that card schemes can work to.

The NPORS Construction Trained Operator Card is issued in line with the requirements stipulated by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) and displays the CSCS logo.

WISHING TO APPLY FOR A TRANSITIONAL NPORS/CSCS CARD

Existing NPORS Card Holder – No (S)NVQ Held

For operators who do not currently hold the requisite (S)NVQ, a Trained Operator card will be issued which is valid for two years from the date of application. During this two year period operators will be required to register for and achieve the requisite (S)NVQ with the unit credits applicable to the categories of plant stated on their Trained Operator card.

Operators may apply directly or employers may apply on behalf of their operators via this service.

Please note, that in all cases, operators are required to supply proof to support their application. They have to have passed the NPORS or CITB health, safety & environmental touch screen test within two years prior to their application.

WISHING TO APPLY FOR A TRANSITIONAL NPORS/CSCS CARD

New Entrant – No (S)NVQ Held

Once successfully tested operators who do not hold the requisite (S)NVQ with the units applicable to the category of plant achieved will be issued with a Trained Operator card valid for 2 years from the date they were tested. During the two year period they will be required to register for and achieve the requisite (S)NVQ with the unit credits applicable to the category(s) of plant held on their Trained Operator card.

On successful completion of this process a Competent Operator card will be issued valid for 5 years from the date of application. A CPD record / operator logbook will also be issued.

New entrants to the NPORS Scheme will undertake training / testing in the usual way.

Apply to extend

A TRAINED OPERATOR CARD

If you have not yet been able to achieve the relevant (S)NVQ, you may apply for an extension of your existing trained operator card for a period of 12 months.

This extension period is designed to allow you time to achieve the requisite (S)NVQ in a timely fashion and in doing so apply to transfer to the NPORS CSCS Competent Operator card.

In order to apply for an extension, you must first be registered with an NVQ Awarding Body for the relevant (S)NVQ.

Please be aware that you are required to have achieved the relevant (S)NVQ with the units appropriate to the machine types you hold on your card in order to transfer them to the NPORS CSCS Competent Operator card.

Please be advised that if you are granted an extension to your existing card but do not achieve the requisite (S)NVQ by the end of the 12-month period you will not be allowed to apply for another NPORS CSCS trained operator card. In this case you will be required to first achieve the relevant (S)NVQ, be skills tested by an NPORS Accredited Training Provider on the relevant machine types and then apply for the NPORS CSCS Competent Operator Card.

Please note that when returning your completed form, a non-refundable fee of £25.00 plus VAT (£30.00) payable by card or BACS online payment is to be made.

NVQs and SVQs

NPORS do no not offer National vocational qualifications (NVQs) or Scottish vocational qualifications (SVQs).
