We are extremely proud to announce that NPORS is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all, for your continued support over the years and we look forward to the next 25 years. The scheme and its providers have come a long way since 1992 and with the NPORS card now more recognised and accepted than ever before we are confident that the scheme will continue to grow in the future.

 

Technical Bulletins

The purpose of the Technical Bulletin is to update and inform Accredited Training Providers and Instructors of any changes to existing policies and procedures and of any new information relevant to you. Please ensure that when policies and procedures are updated in these bulletins that you update your copy of the NPORS policy and procedures document accordingly. This applies retrospectively as well as going forward.

 

Vacancy for Monitor / Instructor Trainer

Due to expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Technical, Training & Standards team. We are looking for 2 positive, well presented and professional individuals to predominantly cover the following regions, South Wales/South West of England and South East of England. The role includes extensive travelling across the UK and Ireland with some overseas work also required. Regular overnight stays will be required.

N020 Tiltrotator System
NPORS and Engcon are pleased to announce that the three planned Tiltrotator CPD days have been filled. Those instructors who were unable to book places this time are advised that we will be in conversation with Engcon in due course and will be scheduling more CPD days for those who still wish to attend.

Attendees at these CPD days will hold excavator 360° on their instructor remit and will be trained and tested on the Tiltrotator system in order to apply to add the category to their instructor remit.

 

NPORS / CSCS Instructor Card
Having received several enquiries from Training Providers and Instructors regarding the process of displaying the CSCS logo on the NPORS Instructor Card, we have met with CSCS and have agreed a way forward to facilitate this. Final confirmation is expected very soon so please keep checking npors.com and these bulletins for further details.

 

Changes to Category Variations
As announced in the December bulletin, we have now amended the weight variations for N204 Forward Tipping Dumper. The new test paperwork is now available in the test sheet area of npors.com. The new variations will be Forward Tipping Dumper (excluding mini dumper – skip loader) wheeled or tracked. Please note that we class mini dumpers as those below 1 tonne capacity.

 

ABA Workplace Transport
The ABA over recent months after having received feedback from a range of industry stakeholder’s have revised the basic operating skills test for industrial counterbalance (B1) and reach (D1&D2) trucks.

We would strongly encourage everyone to read the new test in detail to ensure they are aware of all of the changes. Below are some of the key changes (please note this list is not finite):

  •   13 of the 22 elements described in the pre-use inspection test have been deemed safety critical. The test candidate must carry out a full and correct check of these items, failure to do so will result in an automatic referral in this element of the test
  •   Candidates will be disqualified from the practical skills test if they incur more than 3 (i.e. 4 or more) 5 point penalties in any one are
  •  A number of elements in the practical skills test have had their penalty award increased
  •  In the bank of multiple choice questions there are 5 mandatory questions. These must appear in every question paper. If a candidate gets any of the mandatory questions incorrect then the overall result of the association knowledge examination will be a referral (regardless of the overall score

It is not mandatory to implement the new test immediately, however the new test will need to be in use by training organisations from 1st September 2017. Any tests held on or after this date that do not use the new format will be invalid.

 

Paperwork Audits (Policy section 5.2)
As announced in bulletin No. 11 annual paperwork audits came into force from January 2017. These audits were initially communicated to all TP’s in October 2013 when the NPORS Policy and Procedures document was released. Be advised that should you decide not to renew your accreditation with NPORS or to transfer to or amalgamate with another NPORS ATP your paperwork for the previous year will still have to be audited by NPORS. Failure or refusal to have this paperwork audited will result in termination of accreditation and the other members of the ABAWT will be notified.

 

Out of Hours Amendments to Notifications

If you need to amend or cancel a notification out of normal office hours, a telephone answer service is now available to you so that you may leave a brief message stating NRN number and any amendments or cancellations.

The number is 01656 767612.

This number will only accept amendments or cancellations and will not accept bookings. It will only be available out of hours.

Do not call the main office number for out of hours’ amendments as the messages will not reach the monitors and you may be charged if a monitor turns up.
