General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
New Regulations come into effect 25 May 2018
You will by now be aware that the new General Data Protection Regulations come into effect from 25 May 2018 and as such we have received a large number of calls and e mails on this subject. We have taken legal advice on this as it means a change to our current data protection policy and a change to the information contained on our test paperwork. To this end we have attached our new data protection policy to this bulletin. The new policy should answer all your immediate questions regarding our obligations as a scheme under GDPR and what you can expect of us in relation to any data we hold which has been supplied to us by our training providers. The data protection statement on the test paperwork will be removed as it applies to the current data protection legislation and will be replaced with a 1-page document which you are required to give to your candidates for them to read and sign to confirm they understand how their data will be collected and processed.
This document will be checked at audit, so you must ensure that it has been signed as with every other piece of documentation. All training providers should have a similar document in place in order to comply with GDPR.
In line with the previous item we will be uploading new paperwork onto the NPORS website which will be GDPR compliant. You must ensure that you destroy any copies of blank paperwork that you may have downloaded or photocopied in advance and use the new paperwork from 25 May 2018.
Hillhead Show 2018
We will be exhibiting at this year’s Hillhead Quarrying, Construction and Recycling show at Hillhead Quarry, Buxton.
The show takes place from 26 – 28 June 2018.

We currently have two vacancies for Monitor’s to cover the following regions: South East of England and North East of England. We have noticed an increase in the level of abusive or aggressive telephone calls from training providers over recent weeks.
Be advised that the administration and technical teams at NPORS are there to help and advise you on our policies and procedures, they don’t write the policies and procedures.
Therefore, if you get an answer you are unhappy with, don’t take it out on the person at the other end of the phone as they are in no position to change any policies, they are there to advise you of what the policies are.
Abusive or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated and those found to be adopting this kind of behaviour will be subject to disciplinary action.
We currently have some training providers and instructors who are under sanction.
These sanctions range from level 1 action plans to level 4 suspension of the instructor. Be advised that we prefer not to have to take these actions but are very prepared to do so if we find training providers and instructors who have contravened scheme rules. Since 2011 a total of 12 training providers have been removed from the scheme due to contravening scheme rules.
In line with NPORS policy 9.1
This is a reminder that in line with NPORS policy 9.1 any changes to notifications that have been registered on our online portal must be communicated to NPORS as soon as possible. The information includes change of location, split locations, change of start or finish times e.g. a notification is booked from 08.00 to 16.00 but the testing is completed by 14.30. In this event you must notify NPORS that the job has finished as there is a possibility that a monitor may arrive up to the notified time of 16.00.
If you are not there when the monitor arrives, and you have not notified NPORS of the change of finish time you will be charged.
Operator Cards Photograph Information
Please ensure that when you send in photographs of operators with your applications that they are of good quality with no sunglasses or hats being worn, also the photograph should not be stretched or distorted in any way.
Poor quality or inappropriate photographs cannot be processed and will cause delays in cards being issued.
Out of Hours Amendments to Notifications
If you need to amend or cancel a notification out of normal office hours, a telephone answer service is now available to you so that you may leave a brief message stating NRN number and any amendments or cancellations.
The number is 01656 767612
This number will only accept amendments or cancellations and will not accept bookings. It will only be available out of hours.
Do not call the main office number for out of hours’ amendments as the messages will not reach the monitors and you may be charged if a monitor turns up.
